SPACE TRAVEL - OVER A LIFETIME
Safety is of primary importance for space travel.
The failure of individual components can result in catastrophic consequences. Therefore, all components used must be functioning at all times. This particularly applies to safety components. This is no easy task, since design configurations are always close to the limit during development.
With these requirements, the engineers of the ISS space station placed their trust in R+W. Service-life stable safety couplings, in this case consisting of special materials, with positive separation in the event of overload, which can be placed back into operation without spare parts, fully meet the boundary conditions for this special application. These compact couplings have since been used in space to protect components against damage.
