Elastomer couplings for variable superstructures
When a team arrives at the track with the race trailer, it usually wants one thing: to make fast progress in all the conditions it finds. This applies in particular to the smooth transformation of race trailers into mobile team centers. Flexible lifting and extension options of the superstructure often allow the usable space to be more than doubled – creating additional rooms that provide space for the high-tech equipment as well as allowing team meetings and rest areas for the drivers.
In order to ensure that the required movements, some of which are highly complex and take place under high loads, are torsion-resistant and that lifting and pulling movements are coordinated in a way that balances them out and keeps noise to a minimum, the R+W EK6 elastomer coupling, for example, has proved to be ideal for an automated “gallery”.
Highest concentricity, the design of the clamping hub and the selection of the Shore hardness ensure the compensation of lateral, angular and axial shaft misalignments perfectly – all movements are “smooth”, stable and even. For this purpose, R+W offers the elastomer segments of the EK6 in different hardness grades of, for example, 98 Sh A for optimum damping or 64 Sh D for maximum torsional stiffness – depending on the main application requirements to be expected. For this purpose, the application limits are generally between –30 and +120 degrees – but we also offer you as a customer the ideal variant for even more extreme temperatures of –50 to +150 degrees.
You see – whether Arctic or Emirates, whether summer or winter – wherever and whenever you conduct your races in the world – with R+W elastomer couplings installed in the race trailer, you are already pretty far ahead.
