R+W and Warwick rock the production!
The collaboration between Warwick GmbH Co. Music Equipment KG and R+W Antriebselemente GmbH is an impressive example of the integration of high-precision mechanical components in the production of musical instruments. Warwick, a renowned manufacturer of guitars and basses, relies on modern automation technologies to optimize its production processes and ensure product quality.
Warwick is renowned for manufacturing high quality guitars and basses, producing up to 20 instruments per day. The company has made a name for itself in the musical instrument industry for its excellent craftsmanship and high-quality materials. Warwick guitars and basses are used by many international artists and bands, including household names such as Robert Trujillo (Metallica), Bootsy Collins and Adam Clayton (U2).
The project in detail
The miniature coupling type MKH/15/30 from R+W was used in this project. This clutch connects the shaft of an electric motor with a holder for a collet chuck that accepts drills with a diameter of 25 mm. The electric motor runs at a speed of 3000 rpm and delivers a torque of 0.48 Nm.
The specific application of the clutch at Warwick is to drive the automated drilling spindles used to drill mounting holes for guitar side clamps. This automated solution is part of a system developed to automate and optimize the drilling process.
Perspective
The successful implementation of MKH couplings in Warwick’s production processes demonstrates the potential of such partnerships. There are plans to supply further couplings, which will then be installed in milling spindles. These spindles are intended for milling off protruding fret wire ends after they have been pressed into the guitar neck.
By working with R+W, Warwick can ensure that their production facilities remain at the cutting edge of technology, giving them a competitive edge in the highly competitive musical instrument industry. The continuous development and adaptation of technologies demonstrates both companies’ commitment to the highest quality and reliability in their respective fields.
